Family Session in Brown County

A couple of weeks ago I headed out to middle of nowhere in Brown County to do some family photos. After driving across a one lane gravel road with no side barriers that when across the lake I thought for sure that I was going to have to move to this place because I wouldn’t be able to drive back across it haha…. don’t worry i made it back.

On the other side I found a fantastic family that had gathered from all over the US to spend the week together at their cabin on the lake. I think between them they have most of the US covered, Indiana (obviously), Massachusetts, Washington…..

Thanks to everyone for letting me bust in for awhile on the family vacation and allowing me to do some family photos 🙂

Brittany and Clayton – Engagement Session 8/4/10

It’s assumed that the summer is going to be hot, but it seems that this year has been unbearable and shows no signs of letting up. I met up with Brittany and Clayton on an evening in August that turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. When I say it was hot I mean it was so hot it felt like your skin was going to melt right off! So naturally we had decided on a shoot outside at Chateau de Pique in Seymour, IN. The area is gorgeous – the vineyards are surrounded by open country and cornfields, but left us in the directly sun for most of the shoot.

I have to give props to Brittany and Clayton for battling the heat. From the looks of these photos you would never know they were as miserable as I’m sure they were in the heat. I tried to soften the blow by bringing a bottle of wine from the winery … it was the least I could do.

Enjoy the photos – some of my favorites! Can’t wait for their wedding next month!

WPPI Roadtrip-Chicago

This past Thursday I hit the open road (65N) with a van full of amazing ladies who are also photographers in the Indy area.  For barely knowing, or only have having been introduced via Facebook to most of them I was worried it would be awkward at first. Boy was i wrong… I could hang out with these gals all the time! They were cracking me up the whole trip!

We arrived in Northbrook (north of the city) on Wednesday night for the workshop the next day. After staying up way too late talking we were up and going at 8am for the first speaker. I don’t know if it was the adrenaline rush or the fact that I drank about 5 cups of coffee because the conference room was subzero, but I was pretty pumped up most of the day.

From marketing to lighting to workflow…. my mind was full of new ideas and ways to improve my business and my photography skills. Top that off with a mini trade show of a ton of album companies and more covers options than I know what to do with and I was more than happy for the glass of wine at the end of the day to calm myself down!

Can’t wait to implement some of the things I learned and share them with you!

Who wants to roadtrip to vegas for WPPI in February?!!!
