What a perfect evening for an engagement shoot this was! Krystal and Ryan won a session from me as part of my giveaway at the Columbus Bridal Show back in January. We decided to wait until the weather got a little nicer to shoot and I’m sooooo glad we did.
We wondered around downtown Columbus and made some stops along the way, including the Commons where they will be getting married in August.
I love all the unique backgrounds and colors that downtown Columbus has to offer 🙂 And the light in the Commons – in love!!!
Congrats to Krystal and Ryan – it was a pleasure getting to work with you both!

And last but not least – my favorite shot from the session 🙂

Where to start?! This wedding was like a reunion for me! Both Tara and Connor are from my hometown and were high school sweethearts. Connor is actually my second cousin and I know this will make me sound old, but I couldn’t believe it when I heard he was getting married! In my mind he’s still 5 or 6 running around their house as his sisters and I were playing house or watching movies.
So not only did I know the couple, but I was surrounded by relatives and hometown friends I hadn’t seen forever. It’s always a blessing when you get to shoot with amazing people and amazing families. Tara was a stunning bride and when you know the whole bridal party it sure makes things easy! Big props to Tara’s dad who was the lighting genius behind the reception – the Parish Center looked gorgeous!
I am so honored to have been a part of their day. I even got to bust some moves on the dance floor with Connor’s dad 🙂
Below are some of my favorites! Congrats again to Mr. and Mrs. Ertel!

Hey everyone! As you may (or may not) know I’ve been trying to expand my brand into the Chicago area this year. I’m proud and excited to share this awesome Chicago engagement session with you. If you’re an avid reader of my blog you may remember Mike from from Emily and Mark’s wedding back in 2010. He’s the tallest groomsman (and soon to be groom) I’ve ever had so it’s hard to miss him! Or maybe it’s just that I’m really short……..haha
Although I love Indy and all the great areas to shoot in southern Indiana as well there is something to be said about shooting in a big city like Chicago. I met Becca and Mike at their place in the West Loop and they took me on a little tour of the area. We stopped at a park near their place with their adorable dog Marlo. Found some great industrial areas and got an awesome view of the city from the Kinzie Street bridge. Everywhere I turned there was a great view or an awesome building to shoot by…. I could have done this session for another 3 hours! haha. Thanks to Becca and Mike for choosing me as your photographer! I can’t wait until the big day at Loft on Lake in September!
