I met Kristin and Mike at the Carnivale Windy City Bridal Show I did in February. They were one of my lucky winners of a free engagement session 🙂
I was super excited about this shoot. Kristin wanted to incorporate a bit of train/transporation theme to the session as they met on the train from Chicago to Milwaukee for a Cubs vs. Brewers game.
We started the shoot at the legendary Union Station. The architechture in there is amazing! Unfortunately it had been raining on and off all day long and we weren’t able to shoot the outside portion of our session.
Fastforward to June and we met up again on one of the most gorgeous Sunday evenings of the summer. It was about 78 and sunny (which sounds amazing compared to the 99 degrees that it currently is as I’m writing this post). We met by the Shedd Aquarium for some great views of the city and walked around that area taking in the city and the great skyline view. They were a pleasure to work with and below are some of my favorites from our sessions!
Congrats to Kristin and Mike who are getting married in March of 2013!

I loved this session and feel so blessed to not only have shot this engagement session for Lynn and Bill, but to be a part of their wedding in September.
I’ve never met two more caring and loving people. I was only able to chat with them on the phone before the session, but I quickly learned how they met and what a great couple they are. We wondered around downtown Columbus and shot in and around several of the places they like to go in their city.
After the session I got to grab some pizza with them at Zwanzig’s and hear Bill tell the story of how he proposed to Lynn. I generally try not to cry in public, but it about made me tear up listening to him describe how nervous he was and how much love he has for her.
I can’t wait until their wedding in September!

The minute I found out that Gary was a farmer when I first met with with him and Stephanie about their wedding I had envisioned this session on his familes farmland. Not only was I not disappointed, they exceeded all of my expectations! I’ve decided Gary and Steph are in charge of doing all my location scouting haha.
I asked them if there were any cool old barn etc on the land and they one up’d me and sent me all these photos of potential locations we could go among the many acres his family owns. I was in photo heaven 🙂 With all the great barns and fields and scenery I could have stayed out there forever. If I had any idea how I got there I’d go back all the time haha.
Below are some of my favorites from the session – so many to choose from so sorry if this post is a little long 🙂
I can’t wait until their winter wedding in Madison!

To get to this next location you just drive out to Gary’s farm,
down a gravel road, take a right when you get to the cows, unlatch the gate, drive through the cow pasture, park, hike down a huge hill and you’re there ….. it was totally worth it 🙂
