Intimate wedding at Little Goat Diner Rooftop : Sarah + Darren 9/15/18

It’s no secret that I love intimate weddings. Add in a gorgeous Chicago day, a wonderful couple, a rooftop and the best wedding meal you’ll ever get and you better believe I’m one happy photographer!

Sarah and I actually met through a mutual friend year’s ago so I was thrilled when she reached out me about photographing her wedding! I met her and Darren at their hotel and we headed out to the Cultural Center. It’s one of their favorite buildings and it’s no surprise why. The lines, curves and overall architecture of the space make it one of the best in town. From there it was out to Olive Park for some skyline shots and to soak up the sun.

It was an incredibly hot day for September as we basically skipped fall this year and when straight from summer to winter. But they were troopers for outside shots and made it through their rooftop ceremony at Little Goat with minor sunburns lol. I love the rooftop space there as it’s intimate and colorful, plus the food is amazing. They said their I do’s and literally tied the knot as part of their ceremony before escaping inside for brunch and AC!

I loved their personal touches. Everything from their cake topper that included their cat to the fact that Dr. Darren carried his rings in a prescription bottle lol!

Here are some of my favorites! Thank you to the newlyweds for allowing me to capture your day.

London House Chicago Wedding: Laura + Jose 8/18/18

What happens when you mix an awesome couple, air and water show weekend, a rooftop view and a historic church? An amazing wedding day!

When Laura and Jose first contacted me I was so excited to work with them as they seemed like such a fun couple and were getting married at London House which I’d been dying to shoot at since it reopened. Wish granted! They were getting married on 8/18/18 which quickly became the most requested day of the year. It also happened to fall on Air & Water Show weekend. Which is one of the busiest weekends in the city with thousands flooding the lakefront for the show. But we were up to the challenge!

I met the ladies at the hotel while Carrie went to hang with the guys. They had their first look on the rooftop (does it get better?!) before we headed out to the church. Laura’s great grandparents got married at this same church in 1929!! How amazing is that?! Unfortunately I think they still have the same cooling system as they did in 1929 and it was a hot one! They said their I do’s and we ventured out into the city to battle the traffic for some photos. Everywhere we went was packed. I think we saw 7 other bridal parties at the Wrigley Building (remember when I said it was the most requested date of the year). But I had planned for that knowing that it would likely be wild! We headed back up to the rooftop for some welcome wind to cool us down before heading in for cocktail hour.

The mariachi band rocked cocktail hour and the dance floor was packed all night long. We snuck out with the newlyweds for some night photos on the bridge. They didn’t even flinch when I asked them to climb on the bridge. The result are some of my absolute favorite night photos of all time!

Congrats to the newlyweds and thank you for letting me capture your day!

Sunrise Engagement Session : Kelly + Jake 6/9/18

There is no doubt that this engagement session will always be a memorable one. Kelly and Jake wanted some shots by the lake at sunrise. Easy right?

Mother nature had other plans.

The night before and that morning were nothing but rain. There looked like we might get a brief break for about 30 minutes around the time of our session so we decided to go for it. We go sooooooo lucky! It was sprinkles for the first 20 minutes or so and unfortunately the sun didn’t really make an appearance until the very end for about 2 minutes. Despite all that we had a great time! They laughed and smiled through it all.

About 5 minutes after I got back in my car the sky opened up and unleashed a crazy storm with thunder, lightning and downpours. I’m still not sure how we managed to squeeze in during the one hour it let up!

They are getting married out of state this year, but it was a pleasure taking some shots of them in their current city of Chicago!

Here are some of my favorites.
