A Hawaiian Wedding : Janet and Jason – Honolulu, HI 10/12/13

Well the high temperature here in Chicago for Saturday is 22, so I’m going to pretend that I’m back in Hawaii 🙂 When I was first contacted about this wedding I secertly jumped up and down in joy and I might have done a pretty awkward dance move … that’s how excited I was about the idea of shooting a wedding in Hawaii! Luckily for me Janet and Jason made that dream a reality 🙂

I arrived a few days before the wedding for a little vacation time and a chance to explore the island since I’d never been there. I have to big a HUGE thanks to my friend Laurel who lives in Honolulu and allowed me to spend the week with her and chauffered me around the island for some hiking, snorkeling and much need beach time. Seriously everywhere you look is gorgeous, which only made me more excited for the wedding day!!!

I arrived at Da Pink House to a flurry of activitiy! The girls were doing hair and makeup, the tent was being set up and everyone was pitching in to make it come together so beautifully. Lissa and her team did an amazing job! Unfortunately by the time we started photos the blue sky had turned gray and there was a chance of rain (which luckily held out).  But, with a wedding right on the ocean and palm trees all around I was still in heaven 🙂

This might be one of my favorite first looks ever. Janet’s smile and reaction is exactly what I love about first looks. I never get that reaction at a church wedding! We took photos around the property before their beachside ceremony and reception. Just wait until you see their daughter Addisyn…. I dare you not to want to pinch those cheeks! And who knew Mom and Dad could rap?! Yep they busted out a rap at the end of their first dance!

Thank you , thank you, thank you to Janet and Jason for flying me out for the big day! It was a pleasure getting to know you both! And if you want to renew your vows in Maui next year I can be available 😉

Time for the ceremony!

We snuck in some sunset photos before the party got started!

Reception Time!!

Based on these reactions I’d say there were some good toasts being given:)

Not a bad backdrop for First Dances 🙂

And here come the rap….

I stole the newlyweds away after a quick wardbrode change by Janet for a couple of night shots 🙂

Thanks again!

Lincoln Park & Kinzie Bridge Engagement Session: Malorie and Tom – Chicago, IL 10/6/13

Meet Mal and Tom! I know Mal from our days playing volleybal together back at IU. I always love when I hear from friends about their upcoming weddings!

We had a great time catching up and wondering around Lincoln Park for the start of their session. From there it was off to the Kinzie bridge for some night shots.

The final stop was Joe’s on Weed where they met…. and of course it’s an IU bar 🙂 They were nice enough to let us up on the rooftop for a few photos!

I can’t until July for their wedding! Here are some of my favorites from their session.
