Indiana Statehouse Wedding: Katie + Brandon – Indianapolis, IN 8/30/14

Brace yourselves for amazingness ! This wedding soooo much fun and full of all things sparkly and pink! You may remember Katie and Brandon from their downtown Indy engagement session (if you missed it you can see it HERE). Katie was a bridesmaid in a wedding I shot a couple years ago and I was so excited to work with her again.

We met her at the hotel for hair and makeup and some detail shots before walking over to the Indiana Statehouse for first look with Brandon. The statehouse is so gorgeous – it makes my job easy! We did some portraits before the ceremony started with them and their wedding party. I loved that they chose to just have a best man and maid of honor and all the kids in this wedding were so cute and stylish!

After a wonderful ceremony the couple hopped into a vintage Rolls Royce that took them to the Marrott for their reception. They had a private dinner with family before inviting all the guests to join them for dancing and cocktails after. I didn’t want to leave this wedding as the dance floor was packed all night!

I have to give a big shout out to Tonya with Circle City Planners who really outdid herself on this one. Everything was perfect down to the last detail.

Here are some of my favorites from their day! Congrats again to Katie and Brandon!

This flower girl was so cute… she got about a third of the way down the aisle and ran out of petals.

I am in love with this shot of Katie!

I posted this photo below as one of their previews and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so much action on one photo! Thanks to my assistant Regina for the perfect veil toss! It’s definetly one of my favorite photos of the year!

After dinner and toasts they moved into the main reception room with all their guests.

After starting off slow they kicked into full speed with a medly of songs and coreographed dance… and they nailed it!

Katie’s sorority sisters sang her a song before breaking out into dance 🙂

And last but not least, me with the newlyweds! Congrats!

Hotel Baker Wedding : Robyn and Bob – 8/16/14

Well you better settle in for this post. I guarantee it’s going to be a long one. Many of you reading this know Robyn because she is and has been  my primary second shooter for weddings since I moved to Chicago. She’s an amazing photographer, a great friend and for this post she is the beautiful bride you are about to see 🙂 As I went to write the post I was remembering back to when we first met for coffee and ended up talking for over an hour. I knew I was going love her! I remember her talking about Bob and their relationship and when she thought he was going to propose…. and then when he actually proposed haha. So needless to say I couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive.

You may recognize Hotel Baker as it’s been in the news a lot lately because Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg got married there a couple weeks after Robyn and Bob. They must have heard it’s where all the awesome people get married:)

I’m going to let all the brides of the world in on a little secret….. if you want to look really happy in all your wedding photos you just have to is hire professionals and trust them to do what they do best and you’re free to enjoy your wedding day! Not really a secret, but easier said than done for most people.  I absolutely loved this wedding because I knew that I had Robyn’s trust to do the photo schedule however I wanted and capture the day without her worrying about photography at all which left her time to just have fun!  I worried about everything of course. I was a nervous wreck most of the day because I knew that I wanted to blow her socks off with the images. Sami (my other awesome second shooter) will tell you that I was probably harder on myself this day than any other day she’s been with me! Shooting for another photographer is stressful… fun… but stressful!

With an 60-70% chance of rain looming we were worried that their outdoor ceremony might not happen. But luckily they decided to chance it and not a single drop of rain fell! It was the perfect August day for a wedding! Hotel Baker is one of the coolest venues in the area  if you ask me. It was the very first place I shot when I moved to Chicago and I couldn’t wait to get back.

We did their first look (I didn’t even have to talk her into this one) in the beautiful rose garden and then were able to take the majority of the photos before the ceremony so it was right into the party afterwards. You might recognize some familiar faces in this group. One of our July brides, Julia, was a bridesmaid and we will be shooting Alyssa’s wedding next year who was also a bridesmaid!

The guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside in the garden before heading into the amazing reception space. I wish every reception room had a balcony around the entire thing and a light up dance floor! It makes for some awesome dancing shots and angles we can’t always get without a balcony!  The dance floor was packed and thankfully Robyn has been working on her wobble throughout the year so she was able to bust it out. We headed outside for some night photos with Bob’s father’s Cadillac which was a suprise to me. I had no idea it would be there, but it made for some sweet photos!

Thank you thank you thank you to Robyn and Bob for allowing me to be a part of your day. It was truly and honor! And a special thank you to Bob for letting me borrow your wife for many Saturday’s throughout the year!

Here are some of my favorites… and by some I mean a lot….

Time for first look! I love that Robyn had also already scoped out and decided how and where she wanted to set this up so it was super smooth! It was a long walk so we waited until about halfway before Bob turned around to see her walk the rest with her dad.

Well hello there Mr. and Mrs. Lisy!

Can’t wait for September 2015 when these two get married !

They snuck off for a few minutes during cocktail hour so naturally i lurked in the bushes. These series is my favorite 🙂 Totally worth being a creeper!

Westin Itasca Wedding : Megan + Matt – 8/9/14

Brace yourselves for some serious beauty! You may remember Megan and Matt from their chilly November engagement session last year (if you missed it you can see it HERE). The weather was much more friendly this time as we were gifted with a sunny day and bright blue skies for their wedding!

I met the girls at her parent’s house for getting ready photos, which I always love. There is just something about getting ready in the house you grew up in that has so much meaning. And it helps when they have a great backyard for me to shoot details photos in! I was instantly in love the mismatched blush dresses the bridesmaids wore and Megan looked flawless. After a few quick photos at the house we were off to the ceremony at their local church.

Post ceremony we headed out with the newlyweds and wedding party to Herrick Lake which was the perfect spot for photos! I could have shot there all day with the gorgeous light peaking through the trees…. but we had a party to get to! I also heard the song “Hot Cheetos and Takis” for the first time ever and it was stuck in my head for days…. so thank you wedding party for that! haha

The Westin in Itasca was a gorgeous tented setting with cocktail hour outside the guests were able to enjoy the sunset. Maggie Speaks rocked out the reception (no seriously it looked like a packed concert) which was great for us as we love when we get a big group of dancers!

Thank you again to Megan, Matt and their families for allowing us to be a part of your day!

Ceremony Location – First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton

Reception Location : Westin Northwest  – Itasca, Il

Invitations and favors: 221 Creations

Bridal Gown: A Joyful Occassion

Hair & Makeup – Glimmer Salon

Florist: Walden Floral Design Co.

Band : Maggie Speaks

Best family photo of the year! haha

Love this series! And we always love bridesmaids who get the party started!
