My 2013 Favorites: The Moments

Brace yourselves for this emotional rollercoaster of a blog post! These are my favorites moments of 2013. Weddings are always emotion filled days, there is excitement and anxiety, pure joy and laughter and even tears. These photos are the ones I truly love. They are the real moments that happen at weddings, not the staged “smile at the camera” photos (not that those are all bad), but these are the ones that capture the real emotions of the day.

Enjoy!

The moment Gina’s dad and brother saw her in her dress for the first time.

The moment Tisha’s brother said something classic during famil photo time (really wish I could remember what it was).

The moment  Janet and Jason saw each other for the first time on their wedding day…. this is why you do a first look people!

The moment Krista’s parents saw her all dolled up on her wedding day!

The moment you get photobombed by a stranger …..

The moment the wind has a mind of it’s own.

The moment Mike saw his bride walking down the aisle.

The moment in the ceremony where the sun broke through the clouds and Morgan just happened to look up and take it all in 🙂

The moment Emma’s mom and bridesmaids saw her in her dress.

The moment Ali walked Barb’s mom down the aisle.

The moment you nail your best man speech!

The moment when your parents hear you make a joke about hoping Elizabeth married the right identical twin!

And finally the moment when you’re finally husband and wife!

My 2013 Favorites : The Little Ones

This is a fun one! You never know what’s going to happen when you incorporate the little kiddos into the wedding. Some of them are terrified to walk down the aisle, some of them will sprint, some will stop to talk to everyone and my personal favorite from a few years ago some of them will walk halfway and then think it’s a good time to stop and pick their nose (that really happened)!

Not everyone has flower girls or ring bearers, but here are my favorites of the little kiddos I got to work with in 2013!

This little guy at Rebecca and Nathan’s wedding turned around once they got past me to see if I was coming with 🙂

All the kiddos at Carrie and Ben’s wedding were so cute I had to to a collage, but I couldn’t pick just one photo.

This flower girl at Marjorie and Joe’s wedding started throwing her petals and then turned around to pick them all up haha.

Apparently her parents have taught her how to pick up after herself very well.

Are kidding me with those cheeks?! Janet and Jason’s daughter and flower girl was the cutest thing ever!

These two were show stealers coming down the aisle at Lauren and Jordan’s Wedding.

Sometimes your duties as ring bearer include rocking a fake mustache like the ring bearer at Barb and Ali’s wedding

And sometimes the Little ones aren’t human little ones, but adorable dogs in tuxedos. Meet Benson – he was on dress security detail at Leann and Thomas’s wedding.

Twins in top hats?! These three anxiously await their trip down the aisle at Krista and Billy’s wedding.

This flower girl was a dancing machine at Julie and John’s wedding!

As were these guys at Keri and Blaine’s wedding!

But being a ring bearer is a tough gig and sometimes you just need a little nap during cocktail hour 🙂

Yah this was #11….. I cheated… but only by 1 🙂

My 2013 Favorites : The Details

Next up on my list is The Details….. oh how I love the details 🙂 Or  The Deets as Tom Haverford would say (high five for those of you that got that Parks & Rec reference). It’s a tough job being surrounded by such beautiful things all the time, but someone has to do it!

This is the time of the day that I like to take a couple minutes away from all the madness of the getting ready area and just create some nice well lit creative images of all the bridal details that they careful picked out in the planning process. This includes everything from the dress and shoes, to the jewelry, and the invites. I always ask my brides to bring an extra invite or save the date for me the morning of the wedding to include since it’s unlikely they would think to bring on. I love all the personal touches and special meaning behind some of the details. Whether it be a broach that belonged to the bride’s grandmother or a handkercheif from the groom’s mother as “something borrowed” the attention to detail my couples take is awesome!

PS – to all my 2014 brides, it’s always nice when you have a good looking hanger for your dress instead of a plastic one! I used to have one I brought with me and it broke so I need to invest in another before this season starts!

I’m not including the rings in this post as I have a pretty serious addiction to ring shots that will be addressed in a later post (The Bling) and I’ll be doing a seperate post for the flowers and reception details as well.

But here are some of my favorite details of the year!

Elizabeth and Andy’s program surrounded by her jewelry and the handercheif Andy’s mom let Elizabeth borrow 🙂

You could get lost in the layers of Leann’s dress!

Carrie added photos of loved ones that had passed to her boquet so they could be with her all day.

The hand stitched detailing of Emma’s wedding gown by Victoria Sdoukos was unreal…. one of the most gorgeous gowns I’ve ever seen! The personalized bridal gown hanger is an added bonus 🙂

Ok I just couldn’t decide which of these to post so I’m doing both because it’s my blog and I’ll cheat if I want to  🙂

On the left is the engraved watch Morgan gave Mike  as a wedding gift and on the right is the personalized handerchief she gave her mother.

Lauren and Jordan paid tribute to the important people in their lives who had passed with this creative picture collage in the church.

Of course I’m a sucker for pretty jewelry, but when Julie’s mom brought out this vintage beaded handbag that she was letting Julie borrow for the wedding I just knew I had to shoot the details on it! I love all the texture and the contrast of lights and shadows.

Richwood Plantation is like stepping back in time, so when it came to shooting Rebecca’s details I wanted to incorporate some of the great items already in the room such as the wardbrobe her dress hangs on and the antique tray with hand mirrot etc.

Gina’s shoes might have been my favorite pair of the year 🙂 The remind me of the blue shoes Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City.

And last but not least is Rachel’s polka dot dress. This was the first wedding I shot this year and as soon as I walked in and saw this beautiful ruflled gown with subtle polka dot detail I knew it was going to be a good one!
