Happy New Year! As we are a couple days into 2016 I wanted to take a minute to reflect on all the amazing weddings that happened in 2015. I got to work with so many fantastic couples. I’m blessed to be welcomed into my couple’s lives as they join families and say I Do!
It wasn’t easy, but I picked one favorite from each of the big weddings I shot this year! I did many many elopements and small weddings as well and you can look for my favorites of those on the Elope to Chicago blog tomorrow!
Enjoy and Happy New Year!
PS – For anyone reading this that is newly engaged or have friends and family who are I might know a photographer 😉 I still have 2016 dates open! becky@beckybrownphotography.com
If you’re reading this blog and think ” these people look familiar” it’s because many of them have appeared here before! Alyssa has been a bridesmaid at two weddings I shot last year and those two brides were her bridesmaids! I knew it was going to be an amazing day long before it arrived because this group is so much fun. I love walking into the getting ready room and knowing pretty much everyone!
The only wildcard of the day was the weather. I don’t think anyone anticipated 90+ degree weather in September in Chicago Because of the extreme heat and humidity they decided to move the ceremony inside, but toughed it out for photos beforehand. Thank you to the whole wedding party for sweating it out with me!
They decided to do a first look (yah!) so that we could spend some time at a nearby forest preserve for photo before and knock out all the family photos before the ceremony.
It’s not often anymore that there are things at a wedding that I’ve never seen but this one had a couple! They wanted to do table shots which I’m not a huge fan of because it usually interrupts dinner, but they did it in a way that was super fun and I will now recommend to all my couples. The DJ played a song and we ran (literally) from table to table and had them jump in a photo. It only got crazier as we got around the room and everyone caught onto what was happening. I think we did all the tables in about 6 minutes or less! They also did a donut and ice cream bar during the reception which was a huge hit. I might have taken a to go cup with me 😉
Congrats to Alyssa & Dave and thank you for letting me capture your wedding day!

Meet Nicole and Ryan! They had their intimate wedding at Public Hotel which is one of my favorites in the city! I knew it was going to be an amazing day because they used all of the vendors on my Elope to Chicago dream team! We started off with some getting ready photos in the suite before a few fun shots outside and in the gorgeous lobby area pre-ceremony. Christine and her team did an amazing job making the ceremony and reception space a romantic blush dream!
We snuck back up to the suite for them to exchange gifts and later in the night for some night shots of the skyline view after Nicole did a dress change. We didn’t realize until we got up there that it was raining, but they were troopers and ventured out with me anyway!
Congrats to Nicole and Ryan and thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day!
