I was about to blog Ryan and Vanessa’s wedding when I realized I never shared their engagement session!
This was basically the tale of two seasons. We started at the Lincoln Park Conservatory where it’s basically summer year round. We roamed the different rooms and soaked in the warmth before going out for part two. In reality it was January in Chicago which mean cold, cold and more cold! It was about 10 degrees out (no joke). We trying to cuddle up and keep moving as we did some very quick photos around the South Pond area in Lincoln Park.
Here are some of my favorites! Stay tuned for their wedding blog later this week!
Meet Melanie and Leo! They and their families are the absolute sweetest people!
These two lovebirds met on a poetry forum (note to self… work on my poetry). How’s that for a meet cute? I met them at Lake Arlington park on the morning of their wedding for first look and some photos with their immediate families.
From there we headed to Saranello’s for their ceremony and brunch reception. It’s no secret that I love brunch weddings. Mimosas, pancakes and I dos?! Sign me up! I love that they incorporated their love of Disney into the details, favors and even their wedding day looks (be sure to check out Leo’s boutonniere).
Mel’s mom came up some fun games to play at the tables and everyone passed the mic around to tell stories, give congratulations and advice to the newlyweds. It was the perfect day!

I have always loved Thompson Chicago for their cool lobby and bar area. It’s one I recommend often. So I was thrilled when Jenny and Andrew reached out to me about their intimate wedding there.
Unfortunately we got rain, rain and more rain on their wedding day. So our plans to go to a nearby park for some photos got derailed. Thankfully this hotel has so many great areas and nooks for photos that we stayed on site the whole time! Family photo moved inside, but we did sneak out briefly with my giant umbrellas for a couple shots outside with the couple.
They married in what may be my new favorite room for a tiny wedding. Seriously it’s amazing. After their I do’s they and their 20ish guests moved to the adjoining space for cocktail hour with their own private bar while the room was flipped for dinner. When it was set they snuck in for a quick view and an impromptu first dance away from everyone before enjoying a meal together.
It was the perfect intimate wedding! Rain and all! Scroll down for some of my favorites.
