You know the day is going to be good when you walk into the girl’s getting ready room and know basically everyone there! You may remember Katie & Jason from their epic engagement session (see HERE). The pressure was on after such amazing engagement session to top those photos and Icouldn’t rely on Blue’s cuteness since he didn’t make the trip to Michigan.
I drove over the day before and got to scout a bit and take in a gorgeous sunset over Lake Michigan. I prayed to the sunset god (is that a thing?) that we would get another great one for their wedding day and we did! Their ceremony was one of the most amazing ceremonies I’ve witnessed. Granted I know them and have been friends for years, but I still think I would have cried like a baby either way. Thank goodness I had my camera to hide behind. Jason’s vows were the most genuine, fantastic vows I’ve heard from a groom (well done Jason!). After we all tried to put ourselves back together and replied mascara we hit the beach for some photos.
From there it was onto Shadowland Ballroom at Silver Beach for cocktail and reception. Katie had been busy crafting away and put together all the centerpieces with the help of some of the girls. They did their own bouquets and bouts as well! Jason is a brewer and they both share a love for good beer so each table was named after a different brewery!
They rocked the house with their first dance and set the tone to get the party started. And what wedding would be complete without a carousel ride for the guests?! Such a fun and unique experience for all as they were able to take over the space for a few rides!
I was hot, sunburnt and covered in sand by the end of the night, but if I could shoot this wedding all over again I’d do it in a heartbeat!
Congrats to Katie & Jason and thank you for letting me be a part of the day!

There is a giant water playground right across the street from the reception and naturally Jason wanted to mix in with the kiddos for some shots!

I love an intimate wedding! Krystal and Ryan decided to marry with just a small group of their closest friends and family present. I met them at their hotel for some getting ready and detail photos (hello Louboutins!). We did first look on the balcony with a wonderful view of the Hancock building.
With no wedding party I had the couple all to myself for some photos around the city which I absolutely love. We had plenty of time to walk around the area and made a couple of stops along the way. I wish I had this kind of time with all my couples!
We then joined up with their family and guests at Del Frisco’s for some apps and cocktails before their ceremony preformed by Krystal’s dad took place on the outdoor patio. It was a gorgeous night for it! After exchanging their I do’s they headed inside for dinner and I left them to enjoy a private meal!
Thank you and congratulations to Krystal and Ryan! Here are some of my favorites from their day!

Meet Emily & Joe! I went to college with Emily’s brother Ben so I was thrilled when he reached out to me about shooting his sister’s wedding in Chicago (Thanks Ben! ). I had a chance to meet them at Indie Wed and was so excited when they booked me!
We started the day out at Emily’s parent’s house for getting ready, first look, a blessing and tea ceremony. From there we headed to Chinatown to Ping Tom park for photos before their ceremony (my new favorite photo spot!). Glessner House Museum has such an amazing history and beautiful courtyard space for ceremonies. It doesn’t hurt that it’s next door to Women’s Park which I love as well. Guests were able to enjoy the space after the ceremony with a short cocktail hour before heading to Phoenix restaurant for dinner. And boy did we have dinner! We don’t always get to eat what the guests are eating, but in this case Emily and Joe were kind enough to include us in the meal and we were stuffed!
Congrats to Emily and Joe and thank you again for allowing us to be a part of your day!
