I met Meg, Kevin and their families at City Hall on one of the most gorgeous Saturdays of the year!
We joined the fairly long line of people to get married and waited our turn. Saturdays are always very busy down at City Hall as they are only open 9am-noon and more couples bring guests with them on Saturdays so it gets pretty busy! Thankfully the wait went by pretty fast and before we knew it they were married!
After their I do’s we headed outside to enjoy the sun and take some group photos before I headed a couple blocks up with the newlyweds to get some shots along the riverwalk and LaSalle Bridge. Seriously it was so gorgeous out we could have stayed here all day! But a quick stop to the Chicago Theater was on the agenda and then we tried to get over to the West Loop. Key word being tried. For some reason we couldn’t get a cab (love that shot of Meg tried to flag one in her wedding dress in a construction zone!). And we got dropped by Uber and then they couldn’t find us. After about 30 minutes we finally got a ride!
They were have a dinner/party later that evening with some friends at Green Street Meats so we swung by there for a couple photos and snuck back to the patio of RM Champagne (RIP) before they headed across the street to devour some fried chicken!
Here are some of my favorites from their day!

** NOTE – The interior main halls of City Hall are not open on Saturdays! Just an FYI!
I always tell my couples that their engagement session should be about them and what they like to do as a couple. It doesn’t have to be overly posed or you staying in a field of wildflowers if that’s never something you’d do.
So when they told me they love to work out together we hit the gym…. literally! I met them at their apartment to attempt some photos with their pets, Sam and Toews. Like most brothers and sisters they don’t always get along. And this day was no exception. They were not thrilled about taking photos together, but their interaction made it real!
Then we headed upstairs to the gym. You may notice their shirts are a shout out to their love of the show Friends. We did some curls, some push ups and then decided it was time to hit the riverwalk to end our day with some photos in the city. It was oddly cold for the middle of May. But we walked a bit stopping every 5 seconds when I’d go “Oh, what about this… ” until they were practically frozen and we called it day.
Stay tuned for their intimate wedding at Little Goat Diner!
Welcome to the gorgeous wedding of Vanessa and Ryan. Although we battled rain on and off all day, it was perfect!
I met the girls at Midtown Hotel where they were getting ready in the most amazing penthouse suite. I mean it’s two levels with full skyline view and a wrap around deck. What?! I could have stayed there all day!
But of course, we had a schedule to stick too. So it was off to the church in our amazing vintage ride! They got married at the gorgeous St. Viator Church and afterwards we headed out on the party bus for some photos. I think Mysi and I were checking the radar on our phones every 30 seconds as it keep changing. We got pretty lucky with some sprinkles at Wrigley and then it rained heavier as we made our way to Kinzie Bridge and miraculously stopped when we arrived! Thank you Mother Nature!
Their reception was at Hive on Hubbard which is a very cool loft venue with a skyline view and rooftop option for some photos! I have to give them major DIY props as they did all the centerpieces terrariums, seating charts and number, floral chandeliers and initials on the cake table. And it all looked amazing!
Toasts were made and the dance floor was rocking! We snuck up to the rooftop for a couple of night shots to end the evening. Check it out below!
