A turkey walked into an engagement session……
I won’t even try to make that into a joke, because it actually happened. I met Beth and Tyler at Cantigny Park on a hot and humid morning in August. We had been going through a crazy heat wave so we decided to head out early to beat the heat and the crowds.
It was definitely the right move as we practically had the place to ourselves. There was a really cool fog hanging around. And then all of a sudden – Turkeys.
A whole pack of wild turkeys just strolling around! I’ve been out there many times and had never seen that. And they were huge! We tried to avoid them, but I kept looking over my shoulder waiting for an attack lol. Thankfully we made it out without any incidents.
Here are some of my favorites! I can’t wait for their wedding later this year!

There is no doubt that this engagement session will always be a memorable one. Kelly and Jake wanted some shots by the lake at sunrise. Easy right?
Mother nature had other plans.
The night before and that morning were nothing but rain. There looked like we might get a brief break for about 30 minutes around the time of our session so we decided to go for it. We go sooooooo lucky! It was sprinkles for the first 20 minutes or so and unfortunately the sun didn’t really make an appearance until the very end for about 2 minutes. Despite all that we had a great time! They laughed and smiled through it all.
About 5 minutes after I got back in my car the sky opened up and unleashed a crazy storm with thunder, lightning and downpours. I’m still not sure how we managed to squeeze in during the one hour it let up!
They are getting married out of state this year, but it was a pleasure taking some shots of them in their current city of Chicago!

This is session is going to go down in history as one of my all time greatest (possibly the best) sunsets I’ve seen in Chicago.
Not only was the sunset amazing, but we had great weather all around and halfway through we got a rainbow?! I can’t make this up. Even without all of that it would have been the perfect session because Abby and Steve were all I really needed!
We did this session just a couple weeks before their intimate wedding so it was a good trial run for the day of. They had spent some time in this same spot for one of their first dates and wanted to return and it didn’t make sense in the wedding day schedule to do so. Obviously I wasn’t going to object because this is my go-to spot to hang out by the lake. You can often find me and my bf here on Sundays enjoying the view and a book: )
We roamed around, got to know each other and at least 10 times said the phrase ” I can’t believe how gorgeous this sky is!”
