A Rainy Chicago Engagement Session : Lora + Steve 6/8/15

Mother Nature was not my friend in June. We got so much rain that I was starting to go crazy rescheduling shoots. Luckily we only had one reschedule for Lora and Steve’s session! They toughed out the drizzle and rain on our second date as we shot in between downpours.

We started out at the Northwestern Campus downtown where they are both are in Medical School. There is a gorgeous little courtyard there that we took advantage of and stayed close to the building so when the next downpour came (and it certainly did) we could run inside.

After waiting out some rain we made a run for it to get a few shots in at Olive Park. You can see the dark storm clouds rolling in on our last few shots and the wind really started to pick up! We hightailed it out of there just in time to miss getting drenched!

Fingers crossed for a drier day for their 2016 Wedding! Here are some of my favorites!

Jayd + Kris : Lincoln Park Winter Engagement Session 1/21/15

I love a good winter session! Winter is a large part of living in Chicago so why no embrace it?! It was around freezing the day of this session which oddly was warmer than it had been in weeks so I was happy! I met Jayd and Kris at Lincoln Park and we went exploring! I love this park no matter what time of the year. There is a good view and even when not in bloom it’s a pretty area with tall grasses and the semi frozen pond.

Here are some of my favorites!

Chicago Botanic Garden Winter Engagement Session : Corey + Brian 1/10/15

I think I’m going to call this the tale of two sessions! Corey and Brian wanted snowy winter photos for their session, but I don’t think they were anticipating just how harsh the winter tempatures would be. The day we shot this  it was “feels like -10” which was actually an improvement from the days leading up to it! Luckily they decided to shoot at the Botanic Gardens so that we could do some inside the greenhouses for a break from the cold. Hence the tale of two sessions and two extremes. We went from the tropics to the artic just by opening a door!

If there was an award for troopers of the year they would win hands down. Not only did we brave the negative temps, but we were out and walking around quite a bit. Thank god for layers and hand and toe warmers! Even in the middle of winter the botanic gardens is gorgeous! With untouched snow covered trees and virtually no one else around it was a picturesque backdrop.

Here are my favorites! Although we popped in and out of the greenhouses I split this post in two with all the indoor shots first followed by the outside ones after.

I can’t wait for their September wedding which will hopefully bring much more pleasant temperatures!
