As 2009 comes to and end I decided I would do my own version yearly recap. I always leave each shoot or event having a couple of images in mind that are standouts to me. They aren’t always the clients favorites, or ones I post, but they are my favorites. I was going to just do my top 25, but after looking back i realized that would be way to hard so I decided to break it down into categories …
This set are my favorite portraits of the year. Portraits include a wide range of things…. newborns, babies, maternity, families, headshots, seniors and everything in between. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing families this year and documenting the lives of so many adorable kiddos. Thanks to everyone for allowing me to capture or children, seniors or families. I look forward to 2010 and more moments to come.
Here are my favorites of 2009 (in no particular order):

First up are engagement photos, which are my favorite sessions to do. I love capturing the love between couples and these sessions truly do that. They allow them to just be themselves and have fun without distractions. They allow you to go to locations that represent the two of you or places that have been special during your relationships and allow me to get to know the couples before the big day.
So here they are, in no particular order, MY favorite engagement shots of 2009:

Yesterday I had a the amazing opportunity to work with other volunteers for Help-portrait day in Indianapolis. We set up at HVAF downtown and did free portraits for anyone who showed up. It was a great day, met lots of great people who helped with the event – photographers, videographers, hair and make-up artists etc. It was amazing to hear the stories of some of the people we photographed. Some hadn’t had their pictures taken in 10 or more years. Some had braved the freezing cold to walk miles to have their picture done.
I don’t have words to explain how truly amazing this experience was. I am blessed to be able to do what I love and to be able to give that gift back. Hopefully the photos will help brighten the Christmas season for these folks and their families. If anyone wants more info on the event or how it came to be you can check out http://www.help-portrait.com.

Here’s a shot of all the volunteers from the day. Thanks Andrew and John for the photo! It was great working with everyone!
